It's gloomy and overcast today,
and already a bit of rain has fallen.
I hear that snow has finally come
to many of the northern states
and in some places record
setting amounts.
So, I've been thinking of the small
animals that live and somehow
survive in those snowy and
sometimes bitter cold
conditions.
I've seen small Chipmonks play
and scurry about in the snow
, while visiting in the Adirondack
mountains. They seem well equiped
with thick furry bodies
that provide protection
from the harsh winter conditions.
