White Garden Zinnias

One has to be pro-active in a
Florida garden.
My white Zinnias were thriving
until recently.
In no time at all, some very
hungry critter
had grown fat from
eating
the leaves on my beautiful
 flowers.
A true labor of love,
 in the hot sun,
I rescued these favorites
of mine.
I clipped all the damaged leaves
 and then
sprayed with a recommended
 pesticide.
The flowers look the better now,
for all my efforts,
and I am on guard, should
any pest return!

We had a little cold spell today.
  Highs in mid 70's,
and all day long the wind from the north
blew over
our humble abode.
  I'm seeing evidence of beautiful
spring weather in the
upper states...and hear the
spring planting is mostly completed.

Have a sweet ole' day, everyone.  Dee Dee

Great White Egret

The "Great White Egret"
stalks it's prey.
Days of rain on Honeymoon Island
left great pools of water....perfect
sources of food for wildlife.

Osprey

On this day, the nature trails were
alive with
 "bird watchers" and a
variety of bird life.
 I was more
fascinated with the number of
Osprey
perched over heads.
One was feasting on a large fish.

This is mating season and
most were seen in pairs.

Visit Cornell University's website to
watch live nesting Ospreys.
They are interesting birds,
having the same mate year after year.
Visit www.allaboutbirds.org
to open up a whole new world for you.

Have a blessed day....Dee Dee

Island Wildlife *Loggerhead Turtle

Our ride out to
 Honeymoon Island State Park
took longer than usual
Sunday afternoon.
More
people than ever before
 were there.  It's a perfect
place for families
thankfully.....unspoiled by
commercialism.

For a long while
this species of turtle had been
on the decline,
but now numbers are
bouncing back.

"Loggerhead Turtle"

In future post I will show more
amazing wildlife found on the island.

Have a beautiful day, everyone.  Dee Dee
