Trick Or Treat

All is ready for the
"little goblins" that will
come to our door tonight.
  I for one, delight
in the festivities for the
younger children
have been counting
the days for
this once a year event.
They are thrilled at the
chance to dress up and play
 make-believe.
 My grandchildren
will be dressed as
characters from Narnia.
They have wonderful
costumes.....
and swords that light up
when called to battle.
I will see kings and queens from
that mystical place created from
 C.S. Lewis's brilliant imagination.
Oh....there will be one
tiny fluffy lamb in the group.
The Jack-O-Lantern is out
and all my traditional
containers are holding
favorite candies.

Happy Halloween everyone!  Dee Dee

Autumn's Cottage Magazine

Times are certainly changing.
I can remember the day when
I found magazines irresistible.
I could sit in Barnes & Noble for
such a long while, looking at
first one and then another. My
favorites were Victoria and
any decorator magazine. I
remember it quite frustrating, for
many of the pages were filled
with advertisements.

I seldom buy magazines
these days. With the coming of
the Internet, Pinterest,
Smart phones, electronic
tablets....the list goes on....
there seems to
be no need at all to look
through a magazine.
However..... last year
a Cottage Journal magazine
subscription was given to
me by my
youngest daughter.
I did so enjoy each issue
 ever so much.
They came at the beginning
of each season.
Thankfully, I've saved a few copies.
They seem nostalgic, somehow,
so I'm proudly displaying
the Autumn issue, on a table
for all to see.

My Roses Are The Colors Of Fall

I planted a climbing rose
 this past spring.
Unusual colors for my garden,
 the rose bloomed
in large clusters of orange and red.
They've
seemed out of place, somehow,
 until now.

Today my roses are the colors of fall
and are wonderfully and beautifully
in full bloom.....

I'm glad you stopped by.....
Have a beautiful day, everyone.  Dee Dee

Tradition In Aiken

There's lots to love about the south, such
as a beautiful tradition held in my old
home town.....Aiken South Carolina,
"Blessing Of The Hounds"
It's held in Hitchcock Woods
during the fall of the year.
The images speak for themselves.....

Look at the smile on his face....seems to be
pleased with all the goin's on.

Nothing could've been finer than to have
been in Carolina.....

We Smelled Of Leaves

It had rained early
morning.....

and the leaves were brought
down to the ground.....

I'm reminded
how
as children
 we piled
 leaves high into
piles,
only to scatter
them with
our jumping
on them.

Our clothes
smelled
of drying leaves,
when finally
we came
 inside to get warm.
 Funny
how we
 never forget
these kinds of
childhood memories.

Fall

We took a nice long road trip last fall
and along the way I took lots of photos.

These were actually taken at a rest stop
in West Virginia......

The leaves were at the color peak.....

My favorite trees are always the Maple.....

In the distance you can see how
absolutely gorgeous the colors were.....
yet still in my "mind's eye."
I posted some of these photos last
fall and felt them worthy a second look.

Have a beautiful day!  Dee Dee

Beautiful Fall Reminders

We see few signs of fall here
in Florida.
The large oak tree in our
 front yard
is beginning to
shed it's leaves and the
walkway leading to our
front door is scattered with them.
For a while, they will stay
where they lie for I am badly in
need of seasonal change
 reminders.
The temp was again in the
high eighties today and the pool
water is holding at
eighty degrees. It is
 still tolerable for a swim,
should I dare.
Our fall wreath has been hung
on the door
and a very large pot of mums
will greet our friends and family
upon arrival.

Delicious autumn! My very
soul is wedded to it, and if I
were a bird I would fly about
the earth seeking the successive
autumns. ~George Eliot

Last Year In Cooperstown

......we celebrated our marriage and
walked in paradise.
Last year we experienced
wonderful, beautiful,
magical glorious fall
in Cooperstown
New York.
We stayed in the Cooper Inn,
and walked on a brisk cool day.
Reminiscing a little today,while
looking at photos we took.

Sigh.....

Thank you for stopping by.....Dee Dee
