How I spent the afternoon......

The enchanted world of Narnia,
a land of great danger and
a noble adventure
from the mind of author
C. S. Lewis.
Lucy, Peter, Susan and Edmund
are magically transported to Narnia
through an old wardrobe found in
a English countryside estate.
The children discover giants, talking fauns
and beavers.....worst of all, they
encounter an evil "white witch."
Aslan, the "Great Lion"
leads the children in battle
against evil.....
"But he's good. He's the King,
I tell you." (Beaver)

C. S. Lewis's work was required
reading in my son-in-laws
Christian high school. It made
quite the impression on him and
even today he speaks of Mr Lewis,
with fond and familiar affection.
Beginning ages of five and seven, my
grandchildren began hearing
the Narnia stories from their father.
As he read, they memorized
characters and names.
"They are very young, but I want
them to learn wisdom," he said.
This afternoon, the Mister and I
began watching the first of
BBC's Chronicles of Narnia Trilogy,
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.....
with our rather inquisitive, grandchildren.
How special to watch their young
faces filled with wonder, and even
more special to hear and answer
their sweet questions, and hear
their innocent comments.
"Is that snow?"
"Is it cold there?"
(typical questions from
children raised in Florida)
"Why does Tumnus have a tail?"
(Tumnus is a faun)
"Aslan is good, daddy said so.".......
(Aslan, the Lion is King of all)
"I don't like the witch Poppy"
(self explanatory)
It is rewarding, after all,
filling their little heads with
subject matter worthwhile.
