Discovery

During our visit to Cooperstown,
I had an opportunity to just get
out and walk.  The fall leaves were
scattered beneath my feet and the
cool breezes carried the fragrance
of wood burning fireplaces.
On this day, I discovered something
interesting, almost hidden from my view
completely.
Through the Bittersweet berries....

and the tree limbs, I could see 
something resembling a chimney.

Warn and weathered, 
I had found an
old "Ice Shack" belonging to my
grandson.
As a young teen, he would take
the shack out on a frozen lake
to fish.
I was surprised to hear that the
 pipe peeking through the roof
was attached to an
actual wood burning stove.
Imagine that....
As a usual thing, I enjoyed
taking photos for lasting 
memory.

Time To Vote

It's time again for 
"We The People"
to VOTE.  Many folks consider
this one of the most important
elections of our lifetime.
 Those of 
us who've been around awhile are 
watching as our freedoms are being
taken away, right before our eyes.
Seems our
 Constitution is in danger
of being altered and some of us have
been "snookered" into thinking we can't
think for ourselves or make decisions
about our children's diet and health issues.
"Stunning" 
is the word I use most often
when I see what is taking place.
 Remember l984 the movie?
Things not looking so good for 
America.
Who are these people 
in charge and
what could the voters
 have been 
thinking?

will not and

Daylight Savings Time



When told the reason for daylight savings
time, the Old Indian said,
"Only the government would believe
that you could cut a foot off the top of a
blanket, sew it on the bottom and have 
a longer blanket."

Goldenrod

Here is one of the most 
beautiful places
to experience a November autumn.
It's real pretty, don't you think?
Goldenrod 
can be seen blooming
in abundance on Honeymoon Island.
Grasses once green have now
turned a pinkish color, giving a 
beautiful glow to the landscape.
A little slice of heaven seen here showing
the Island transforms
during cooler autumn weather.
Mixed with usual salty air
 are now
musty scents of dying wild flowers.
Is it just me?  
Or does it seem we have
something built into our subconscious
that makes us feel different this time
of year?  I'm ready for cool weather,
 ready for change in clothing style,  and most 
definitely ready for change in foods. As
a matter of fact, I have a nice pot of chili
simmering on the stove.  
Autumn, the season for island walks
in the fading afternoon sun.

Lovin' The Autumn Season

Come nightfall, 
with no fireplace in our Florida cottage, 
 we do whatever it takes to have  
indoors cool weather ambiance .
A few candles burn,
 an environment enhancer,  and I'm
even a bit chilly from a northern
breeze blowing through an open window.
I'm a little melancoly this evening.... although
lovin' the autumn season, there is
concern in my heart for America and it's people.

God bless our land again.

Pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns


I found another little painting
I did in 20ll....nothing is much
sweeter than children in a 
pumpkin patch.  
I saw a few of the pumpkins
they gathered tonight.  They were
carved as jack-o-lanterns.
