You might just as well
slip your shoes off on
the way, for they serve
no purpose when the
white sand gets inside
them and works it's way
up around your toes.
Lots of folks walked down this
path today, leading to the beach,
anticipating
all that is fun, playful and enjoyable.
There to celebrate Independence Day,
they'd soon find
the hot sun had heated the sand,
and the Gulf waters to lukewarm.
